Our Story

Both raised in Fresno, California, Matt and Whitney are lifelong entrepreneurs with a shared passion for creativity, community, and building meaningful experiences. After falling in love, they spent the last decade growing businesses together — a journey that ultimately led them to create one of the most unique wedding venues in the Central Valley.

From the moment they first stepped onto the property, they knew it was something extraordinary. The land’s natural charm, riverfront setting, and sweeping foothill views made it the perfect backdrop for rustic weddings, outdoor wedding ceremonies, and intimate riverfront events. What began as a dream quickly transformed into Stones Throw Ranch — a rustic wedding venue where couples can celebrate surrounded by nature, beauty, and authentic California charm.

The venue reflects the deep love and connection Matt and Whitney feel for this land. Every detail is shaped by their gratitude for the opportunity to create a romantic wedding destination right here in their own local paradise. Stones Throw Ranch is more than a venue — it’s a place where dreams unfold, memories are made, and couples experience the magic of a truly unforgettable Central Valley wedding location.

Land Acknowledgement

Long before Stones Throw Ranch became a rustic wedding venue and gathering space, it lived many lives. For decades, the property operated as a horse ranch, and before that, it served as open cattle‑grazing land. But its history stretches back much further. For thousands of years, this land was home to the Choinumni, a tribe of Yokuts whose deep connection to the Kings River region shaped the landscape long before modern development.

Through the impacts of colonialism, the Choinumni were forced from their ancestral lands and now live nearby on only a small portion of what once belonged to them. At Stones Throw Ranch, we are committed to acknowledging this history with honesty and respect. Our goal is to honor the original stewards of this land by embracing more authentic, sustainable practices and by creating a wedding venue in the Central Valley that celebrates the natural beauty and cultural significance of this place.

Stones Throw Ranch stands today not just as a scenic outdoor wedding location, but as a space rooted in remembrance, gratitude, and a deep commitment to caring for the land and its story.
